Vietnam War Veterans Day 50th Commemoration (Kansas City, MO)  Kansas City VA is honored to host a Vietnam Veterans 50th Commemoration Day event on March 29, 2024 at the VA Medical Center, located at 4801 E. Linwood Blvd., Kansas City, MO. The event will begin at 0830 a.m. in the Main Lobby with a Vietnam Veteran Commemoration Pinning, PACT Act information, and more. At 1:00 p.m. through 2:00 p.m. we will have a ceremony with Kansas City, MO Vietnam Veteran and Medal of Honor recipient, Donald “Doc” Ballard, who will be our keynote speaker. National Vietnam War Veterans Day Free Breakfast (St. Louis, MO)  In recognition of this special day and to honor Vietnam War Veterans, Soldiers Memorial Military Museum, located at 1315 Chestnut Street, St. Louis, MO is hosting its first annual free breakfast for Vietnam War Veterans and their friends, family, and survivors. Breakfast will be served between 8:00am-10:00am, and will be catered by Sugarfire Smoke House. We hope that you are able to participate in this opportunity to visit and connect with Vietnam War Veterans, and begin your National Vietnam War Veterans Day remembrance. St. Louis Area Foodbank (St. Louis, MO) –   The St. Louis Area Foodbank is hosting a food distribution event for Veterans in Maryland Heights, MO at Grace Church STL located at 2695 Creve Coeur Mill Road, Maryland Heights, MO 63043, from 9:00am- 11:00am. Taxes for Vets (Creve Coeur, MO) –  The Kaufman Fund will help Veterans with filing their tax return. Tax help will be available in person at the Creve Coeur American Legion Post #397. The returns will be done for free to Veterans. However, The Kaufman Fund may not be able to do all returns requested due to complexity or IRS due diligence requirements. All personal records needed must be provided by the Veteran to process a return. These include W2 forms, 1099 forms, business records, and proof of residence for dependents being claimed. Morning Radio Talk Show “Veteran Talk” Segment with MVC’s James Smith –   James, a Veteran Services Officer, is a regular guest on this 30-minute segment, which is hosted by KIRX, KRXL, and KTUF radio station in Kirksville, MO (FM 99.7),    beginning at 9:00am on the first Tuesday of every month. James will discuss things that matter to Missouri Veterans and their families such as VA programs, benefits, resources, concerns within the Veteran community, and much more. Don’t miss it! 

Rock the Rotunda Rally   Join Missouri Association of Veteran Organizations (MAVO) at the Capitol in Jefferson City to rally for important issues concerning Missouri Veterans at 1:30pm. Author Talk and MST Discussion with Lisa Carrington Firmin –  As part of Sexual Assault Awareness Month, the Military and Veteran Resource Center will be hosting a virtual discussion on Military Sexual Trauma (MST) and the destruction this act of violence causes to the lives of service members and communities, Guest speaker Colonel Lisa Carrington Firmin (Ret., USAF), the award-winning author of Stories from the Front: Pain, Betrayal, and Resilience on the MST Battlefield , will be joining the Military and Veteran Resource Center to discuss how MST transforms the lives of service members, how she found the courage to write about experiences of trauma including her own. Trigger warning : This event will be discussing matters pertaining to sexual harassment, sexual assault, rape, and discrimination. The event is free and open to the public and will be hosted virtually via Zoom at 12:00pm CDT . Participants will be given a free copy of Stories from the Front: Pain, Betrayal, and Resilience on the MST Battlefield while supplies last. K-9’s On the Front Line 5K (Jefferson City, MO) –  Walk or run the West Edgewood Greenway Trail! The cost is $25.00 per person to participate, dogs are free. Lincoln University Agriculture students are partnering with K9 on the Front Line to raise awareness about service dogs for combat Veterans dealing with PTSD and TBI. Chamber VetNet Connect (St. Louis, MO)  The mission of VetNet Connect is to support and help local Veterans in whatever way we can. To help with employment, housing, medical, and try to keep Veterans out of “at-risk” situations. This networking event is for individuals and businesses that wish to support our Veterans and active duty, whether through hiring, discounts, businesses owned by Veterans, or services directed to these individuals.
