Catholic Charities empowers at risk people to create a pathway out of poverty by alleviating their immediate crises to create stability; then providing robust support to lift them to dignity and self-reliance. Each diocese and local program offers unique services in their local communities. VTS provides qualifying Veterans with free transportation services to and/or from participating VA medical centers in a multi-passenger van.

Veterans who are homeless or at imminent risk of homelessness are strongly encouraged to contact the National Call Center for Homeless Veterans at (877) 4AID-VET (877-424-3838) for assistance. If Veterans do not have access to a phone or the internet, only then are they to visit their closest VA medical center without calling in advance. VA also urges Veterans who are not homeless or at risk of homelessness to contact their VA medical center before visiting for any reason.
SSVF may include intensive case management, financial case management, housing search assistance, assistance in applying for VA benefits and services, life skills training, budgeting, job preparation, transportation assistance, landlord-tenant mediation, and temporary financial assistance (rent, utilities, etc.) to address housing barriers.
